1988: Following the footsteps of his older stepbrother Adam Farrar, Leo did his first commercial for Matchbox at the age of 14.

1990: Leo got his first breakthrough role in a short-lived tv series based on the movie Parenthood. After Parenthood, DiCaprio had bit parts in various tv shows including the daily soap Santa Barbara. His involvement in Parenthood  and the daily soap earned him a nomination at the Young Artist Awards for Best Young Actor.

1991: DiCaprio’s debut film role was in a comedic sci-fi horror movie named Critters 3. Soon after he became a regular recurring cast member in an ABC sitcom, Growing Pains.

1992: Leo made his big silver screen breakthrough in the film This Boy’s Life. He was handpicked out of 400 young boys to star opposite Robert De Niro.

1993: DiCaprio starred opposite Johnny Depp in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. The film became a critical success resulting in many accolades for DiCaprio. He was awarded with National Board of Review Award. He also earned nominations in that year’s Golden Globes and Academy Awards.

1997: Leonardo starred in James Cameron’s Titanic. Against the film’s expectations, it went on to become one of the highest-grossing films of all times.

2004: DiCaprio starred in a biopic of the eccentric and obsessive American film director and aviation pioneer, Howard Hughes in The Aviator. Leo received rave reviews for his performance and earned himself a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor and his second Academy Award nomination.

2006: DiCaprio earned his third Academy Award nomination for Blood Diamond. 

2013: Leonardo starred in The Wolf Of Wall Street. The film was based on the life of the stockbroker Jordan Belfort. The role earned him his fourth Academy Award Nomination and A Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy.

2015: DiCaprio starred in The Revenant , directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu.

2016: Leonardo won his first ever Academy Award for Best Actor for The Revenant.
